Trigger Warning: Spider-Man: No-Way Home spoilers ahead!
Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony Entertainment came together to bring us one of the best superhero movies of all time in December 2021. Spider-man: No-Way Home brought three generations of Spider-man fans together for one movie. The fan service was immense as it brought together three different Spider-men and a plethora of villains – all in one movie. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returned with their versions of Spider-man in Tom Holland’s universe. Fans are now excited about Morbius and Andrew Garfield coming together next.
Similar to other villains in the Spider-man comics, Morbius is also a science experiment gone wrong. The antihero is a biochemist with a fatal blood disease. In search of a cure, he turns himself into a lethal vampire. Jared Leto is playing Dr. Morbius and fans have been waiting for this movie for a long time now. But after NWH, the excitement has skyrocketed. Fans have reasons to believe that we might see Andrew Garfield’s Spider-man back in action.
Morbius Release Date Pushed Forward
It might sound completely bizarre but it isn’t all hodgepodge. Morbius and Andrew Garfield might come together because the release date for the movie has been pushed back – again! Initially, Morbius was supposed to hit screens on July 10, 2020. It was delayed a number of times in lieu of Omicron but was all set to release on January 28, 2020.
But Sony pushed the release date one more time and the three-month delay is too suspicious. That too right after the immense success of NWH! Morbius release date in the United States is now April 1, 2022. The delay is apparently due to the increasing numbers of Omicron cases in the USA. However, the time is also enough for shooting a few scenes with Andrew Garfield. We’re sure the fans will go batshit crazy even with a post-credit scene!
Morbius and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man Hints in the Trailer
The fan speculation isn’t only because of the release date getting delayed. There are enough Easter eggs in the new trailer to convince us that Morbius and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-man have something to do with each other. The theory is further strengthened by the fact that both versions of the character are under the proprietorship of Sony Entertainment. Moreover, fans were quick to realize the Oscorp building and logo in the new trailer. It is the same one as in TASM and TASM 2.

That is not the only major Easter egg as there is another clear indication that the Spider-man in this universe is TASM. If you pause the trailer at 2:10 there is Spider-man graffiti on the wall. The costume is no other than Andrew Garfield’s Spider-man from TASM.

Morbius doesn’t exist in the MCU’s version of Spider-man yet. So, there are enough hints in this trailer to convince fans that it exists in the TASM universe. Sony has the entire stage set to make sure the fans get what they want. All they have to do is pick up the phone and call Andrew. And it seems like they might have already done that! The Easter eggs only further empower the fans and their theory that the delay in Morbius’s release date means they are reshooting some scenes with Andrew.
Fan Reactions and Enthusiasm
There was no reason to believe that we would see Andrew in another Spider-man movie. And before No-Way Home, fans probably didn’t even want to. The Amazing Spider-man movies weren’t received well when they were first released and we never saw TASM 3. Moreover, it convinced people that nothing could beat Tobey Maguire’s Spider-man.
But now, Sony and the MCU have ignited a fire in the heart of all Spidey lovers. They want to see Andrew in more movies and are pushing for TASM 3. Fans took Twitter by storm after NWH and suddenly Peter 3 has become a fan favorite.

In NWH, all the Peters are talking about their villains and how they overcame them. Peter 3 (Andrew) is visibly upset that he’s never fought an alien before and the other two have (Venom and Thanos). So, fans are now pushing for Sony’s Venom (Tom Hardy) to have a one-on-one with TASM 3.
