Most Powerful Versions of Thor (Ranked)

Most Powerful Versions of Thor (Ranked)

By Hannah Hanson | April 25, 2021

Thor is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Multiverse. Few other heroes can claim to be on par with the God of Thunder when it comes to strength and abilities. The Asgardian deity has received several upgrades and powerups over the years. Today, we will be looking at the most powerful versions of Thor. And yes, we have included the Avengers Endgame Thor on this list.

1. Thor (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

While this version of Thor pales in comparison to the others on this list, he is still one of the most powerful beings in the MCU. No to mention this Thor is in fact the most powerful Avenger. We got our first look at the Asgardian in the 2011 “Thor” standalone movie. The Thor shown in the movie is a cocky and arrogant heir-apparent to the Asgardian throne. It is worth mentioning here that this Thor did not reach the peak of his powers in the movie.

We’re jumping straight to Thor in Avengers: Infinity War. This time, Thor receives a significant power boost, thanks to a new hammer called Stormbreaker. His arrival towards the end of the film is one of the best scenes in the MCU. Thor uses his newfound weapon to impale Thanos but not before the villain snaps his finger to turn half of the universe’s population to dust.

Now, onto the Avengers Endgame Thor. The Odinson is at his most powerful here because he has both the Stormbreaker and Mjollnir at his disposal. Apart from the two impressive weapons, Thor retains his superhuman strength, insane durability, superhuman speed and stamina.

2. Old King Thor (with Phoenixforce)

This version of Thor has access to the Odinforce, now called the Thor-Force. Old King Thor is among the most powerful beings in Marvel Comics. It is pertinent to mention here that the Odinforce can cause entire galaxies to fall and worlds to crumble. The Odinforce, now in Thor’s possession, multiplies his powers. Old King Thor is powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Galactus aka the eater of worlds.

Now add Phoneix Force to the mix and you have a Thor whose power far exceeds that of any other gods in Marvel Comics. This Thor is also millions of years old. He is battle-hardened and can kick asses anyway he pleases. Speaking of his stamina, this version of Thor fought King Doom nonstop for almost a century. However, he still cannot match the awesomeness of Rune King Thor feats, or can he?

3. Rune King Thor

The most powerful version of Thor is too powerful for Marvel Movies. Yes, you heard that right. This version of Thor is twice as powerful as his father, the All-father Odin. He has the full powers of the runes. Runes is basically the stuff that makes him a god. On top of that, he has access to the Odinforce. Guyes, this Thor is really OP. He is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel multiverse. There aren’t many beings that can match the awesomeness of Rune King Thor feats.

While the full scale of his power is unknown, Rune King Thor is shown to completely obliterate Those Who Sit Above in Shadow, beings that caused Ragnarok to happen again and again. For those of you who don’t know. Ragnarok is the twilight of the gods. It is the end of life in Norse mythology. So, Rune King Thor basically destroys the very beings that weaved the fate of all Asgardians. He also shatters the World Tree with the full blow of his hammer.
